The Pana40 Plus
3D system uses a set of Pana40 Plus 3D detectors which are mounted on
the elevator car doors. The Pana40 Plus 3D controller generates an
invisible array of 40 parallel infrared beams
between the detectors while also controlling a unique
3D detection zone produced by the
detectors which extends between the hoistway doors and into the
landing. Any invasion into to the active 3D detection zone while the
doors are closing will cause the doors to reopen. Similarly, any
interruption to a single beam forming the light curtain will cause the
doors to re-open and will also reactivate the 3D detection zone. The
combination of these two systems provides two important benefits over
conventional multi-beam light curtains. Firstly, it offers greater
hoistway door protection from the
hoistway doors and secondly, it reduces the risk
of collisions from freight, making the Pana40 Plus 3D
especially suited to hospitals, senior citizen homes and shopping
malls. Using the same proven technology as the Pana40 Plus, the Pana40
Plus 3D is considered as the next generation of door protection
systems providing Enhanced Safety & Comfort and
exceptional Reliability. The system includes a set of Pana40
Plus 3D detectors, which are available in three profile widths, and a
Pana40 Plus 3D controller which are all backed by a
2 Year Warranty. Like the Pana40 Plus,
the mounting system is truly universal and is suitable for either new
construction or modernization on either side or center opening
elevator doors. Upgrade kits are also
available to upgrade from a regular Pana40 Plus to a Pana40 Plus 3D.

additional relays to initiate nudging etc
Pana40 Plus 3D MKI Controller (Model
840 023/J)
At the heart of the system is an
advanced microcontroller that performs a number of complex tasks.
These tasks include activating groups of 3D transmitter and receiver
diodes, sequentially scanning individual transmitter and receiver
diodes to produce 40 parallel light curtain beams, measuring the
signal strengths of the reflected 3D signal as well as the signal
strengths for the light curtain beams, providing real-time
compensation for each light curtain beam to achieve maximum
sensitivity throughout the door closing cycle, checking the system
status, performing a 3D self check to ensure that the 3D is operating
at optimum performance, updating the diagnostic LED display and making
critical trigger decisions all within milliseconds!!!

The Pana40 Plus 3D
controller has an additional daughter board that plugs into the
main controller PCB. The daughter board has four dip switches to
set the operating mode and sensitivity of the 3D system. There
are three operating modes and three levels of sensitivity to
optimize the operation and to suit the installation. The 3D
system can also be turned off altogether by using the
sensitivity switches. |
A plug-in connector provides a
convenient way to wire the 110/220V a.c. or 11-35V d.c. power and
relay connections to the elevator controller. A beeper with an on/off
switch control produces an audible tone whenever a beam is broken. A
Time-out switch allows up to 5 beams (no two adjacent) to be ignored
in case a beam becomes damaged. The Time-out period is user adjustable
from 10 to 70 seconds by a single turn potentiometer.
The Pana40 Plus 3D controller has been
designed to be Fail-safe. In the event of power failure or cable
damage, the Pana40 Plus 3D controller will de-energize the main output
relay, resulting in the elevator doors being held open. The 3D
controller also tests the integrity of the 3D system whenever the
elevator doors close shut. By selecting the position of a jumper link
within the controller, the elevator mechanic may choose the action
taken by the controller if the 3D self test fails. The options are to
hold the elevator doors open continuously or to allow the elevator
doors to continue to operate but with a message shown on the LED
display. The unit is secured to the top of the elevator car by four
self-tapping screws which are provided. The 8"x 8" footprint of the
metal enclosure ensures it can be easily located out of harms way.
The system is compliant to the
following electrical standards: CSA LR 53335, C.S.A. B44.1/ASME A17.5
NRTL/C, EMC Emissions EN 50081-1, EMC Immunity EN 50082-2. The system
also complies with various environmental specifications as listed in
BS2011.
Pana40 Plus MKII Controller (Model
842 000/J)
The Pana40 Plus MKII controller is
available as an option to the regular Pana40 Plus MKI controller. It
has a total of 3 relays that may be configured by miniature DIP
switches on the controller to provide various signals including: a
nudging signal, a system fault signal, a Time-out signal. The relays
can also be configured as back-ups to other relays. It is also
possible to produce 194 beams or to operate a set of 3D detectors
without having to purchase a new controller since the embedded
software includes support for these functions.
|
The controller also
has several Time-out modes including: Normal Time-out for
ignoring single beams in the light curtain, Beeper only Time-out
which sounds an intermittent tone for a duration of one minute
after a beam has been blocked for preset time, Canadian Time-out
which uses one of relays to initiate nudging after a preset time
and lastly a 3D Time-out function used to hold the doors open
for a preset time while a passenger is detected in the hallway
(3D detectors must be installed for this function). Other
features offered by the Pana40 Plus MKII controller are a
110/220V a.c. input voltage selection switch and a dual digital
LED display. The controller may also be powered using 11-35V d.c.
The Pana40 Plus MKII controller complies to all the same
electrical and environmental standards as the Pana40 Plus MKI
controller. |

Pana40 Plus 3D Detectors
Any of the detector profiles may be
operated with either the Pana40 Plus MKI controller or Pana40 Plus
MKII controller. It is also possible to mix the profile types as long
as a single Tx (transmitter) and Rx (receiver) are used. There are 3
different profiles to choose from i.e. Standard 1 5/8" (w) x 6ft
10"(h), Slimline 5/8" (w) x 6ft 6" (h) and the UltraSlim 3/8" (w) x
6ft 6" (h). Each detector has 40 infrared devices that are equally
spaced from a height of ¾" to 72" from the bottom of the detector
edge. Two 13ft extension cables connect the detectors to the Pana40
Plus controller. The design of the profiles ensures maximum protection
to the electronics and each set comes with all the necessary mounting
hardware kits required for quick and simple installation to either
center or side opening doors.
