The ultimate in simplicity and
value. Whitco hand-powered dumbwaiters are virtually
unchanged from the original turn-of-the-century designs.
Choose the residential non-geared models for lighter weight loads
typically found in private homes. They will provide many years of
trouble-free service to last the life of your home.
The non-geared drive system is one-to-one, so for every pull on
the rope, the dumbwaiter travels exactly that distance. For
heavier loads and higher travels, consider the commercial geared
models which will give you some mechanical advantage through the
gearing.

Features:
Whitco's Automatic Brake Dumbwaiters
are primarily used in condominiums, apartment buildings, townhouses and private residences.
Whitco's Automatic Brake units are manufactured in four standard sizes.
Special sizes to fit individual requirements and conditions are
also available.Whitco's
Dumbwaiters are furnished as complete units, including the machine
with roller bearings, hand wheel(s), two roller bearing lead
sheaves, hardwood veneer car with a clear lacquered finish, car
hardware, 3/16" aircraft cable, rope guides, 3/4" soft woven hand
rope, swivel rope connector, cast iron or steel counterweights
with removable fillers for adjustment, guide rails, assembly
hardware and spring bumpers. All shafts turn on
pre-lubricated roller bearings assuring long maintenance free
operation

Contract Specifications:
Contractor shall furnish and
install _______ dumbwaiter(s) as noted on plans. Dumbwaiters shall
be of the handpower type (Geared, automatic brake) (Non-Geared,
automatic brake) model _________ as manufactured by the Vincent
Whitney Company, Inc.
Configuration
Dumbwaiters shall have _____ stops with openings on ________
(front) (front & rear) (front & side) for the hoistway as
shown on the drawings and a vertical travel of _______ ft ______
in. Dumbwaiter maximum capacity shall be _______ lbs.
Ropes
Shall be of the best quality material and arranged for ease of
maintenance and proper adjustment. Hand rope shall be 3/4"
diameter, joined with a swivel coupling. Hoist ropes shall be
steel overlaid with Hemp 5/8" diameter (Marlin Clad).
Automatic brake non-geared units shall use 3/16" aircraft
cable.
Guide Rails
Shall be dense select Douglas Fir Kiln Dried, supported at intervals
not to exceed 30".
Counterweights
Shall be cast iron or steel and adjustable to insure proper
operating balance.
Car
Shall be open on required side(s), and shall be constructed of:
(A) Hardwood veneer with clear lacquer finish
(B) Mild steel with painted enamel finish
(C) Stainless Steel
The car shall have dimension of _______ in. wide x _______ in. deep
x _______ in. inside height with one shelf.
Machine
Shall be Whitco Automatic Brake type. Brake shall be of the
bronze friction plate disk design, and full automatic on both up and
down motion of car, arranged to hold car in position when pull on
rope is released with use of check or brake line, the car remaining
stationary under it's specific load until released by pull on the
handrope. Brake to have bronze friction disk and shall operate
without shock or jar and with the least possible lost motion, noise
or friction, and shall be adjustable to compensate for wear.
Installation
Shall be in a suitable Dumbwaiter
hoistway and performed according to national and local codes by
personnel qualified to install Dumbwaiter systems. Dumbwaiters
shall be maintained according to manufacturer's recommendations and
shall be kept in safe working order.
Work by Others
Blocking for the machine support and guide rails. Complete
hoistway constructed according to local building codes. All
hoistway doors where applicable. Note- it is strongly
recommended that hoistway doors be equipped with key locks to
prevent unauthorized opening.

Base Configuration:
Standard units are equipped for operation between two floors (20' total
hoistway), and come complete with machinery, ropes, cables, wood car
with one adjustable shelf, wood guide rails, counterweights,
installation hardware, and installation instructions. Base prices do
not include hoistway construction, doors, tax, freight or
installation.
